ANONIMO TIMING FEAT AWARD

06/11/2018

THE LATEST ACCOLADE THAT NEEDS YOUR VOTE AHEAD OF THE WRC GALA NIGHT IN SYDNEY LATER THIS MONTH IS THE ANONIMO TIMING FEAT AWARD THAT FOCUSES ON SUCCESSES DECIDED BY SPLIT-SECOND TIMING.

The nominees are:

Thierry Neuville’s last-gasp victory in Sardinia
The Hyundai driver was eating into Sébastien Ogier’s lead throughout Sunday and went into the Live TV Power Stage just 0.8sec behind the M-Sport Ford driver. He was 1.4sec quicker than Ogier through the final stage – securing victory by just 0.7sec!

Kalle Rovanperä’s Dayinsure Wales Rally GB triumph
The Finn celebrated his 18th birthday in the week leading up to the Welsh test and handed himself the perfect present by dominating the WRC 2 class. The Skoda Motorsport driver won 15 of 23 stages and his winning time was 1min 34.2sec better than his rivals could muster.

Mads Østberg’s Finnish podium
Østberg secured his best result of the season with second in Finland. Setting the fastest time in the two tests that preceded the Live TV Power Stage, Jari-Matti Latvala closed to within 2.5sec of Ostberg. But the Norwegian’s response was swift and firm in the final stage as he closed the door on Latvala’s advances by edging the Toyota driver's time by just 0.2sec.

Latvala’s Welsh Power Stage win
The Toyota driver said he’d take his hat off to Ogier if the Frenchman could beat his time through the Gwydir Live TV Power Stage at Rally GB. But no one came close to besting Latvala’s stage-winning time as he snatched the rally lead away from the reigning champion by turning a 1.7sec deficit into a 3.6sec advantage.

The winner of the ANONIMO Timing Feat Award will be announced during the dazzling gala, which follows the final round at Kennards Hire Rally Australia (15 - 18 November).

More than 250 guests, including drivers, co-drivers, team bosses, senior officials, city personalities and government representatives will celebrate at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art, across the water from the famous Opera House, on Monday 19 November.
