BESTIA BACK ON THE PODIUM, LORE CONQUERS THE TOP5

13/08/2018

In the Austrian GP, the Leopard Racing Team duo were the authors of an extraordinary comebacks culminating in the second step of the podium for Bastianini and in 5th place for Dalla Porta, who also scored the fastest lap. On Sunday morning the sun shines on the Red Bull Ring, venue of the eleventh round of the 2018 season.

The Leopard Racing team duo, Lorenzo Dalla Porta & Enea Bastianini, began the day with the right step closing the Warm Up session in 8th and 10th positions respectively. At 11 o'clock the traffic lights of the Austrian Grand Prix switched off: a good start by Dalla Porta as he recorded a series of fastest laps and closing the leading group; hindered in the traffic on the first lap, Bastianini started to push hard and he soon reached the second group in Top 10.

On the Lap9 Bestia jumped three rivals and in the next one he also overcame his teammate for 5th position overall. Now the two bikes of the Leopard Racing Team are able to keep up the pace, they lost their followers and they launched themselves in pursuit of the leading group which, at that moment, had an advantage of over 3".

The turquoise tandem continued to record in perfect alternation a series of fastest laps that culminated, on the Lap20, in the race's lap record (1'36.307) for the Tuscan Dalla Porta  and in the comeback on the guys in front: the gap is closed now. The last lap was Bestia’s masterpiece: he took advantage of Arenas’ mistake and he’s 4th, then in one braking action overtook the Spaniards Martin & Masia, taking the 2nd place overall!

#33 Enea BASTIANINI – 2nd
“It was a very difficult race and I started badly: I will definitely have to work on this point. At the beginning I had to get used to an engine braking change but, once I got the right feeling with the bike (which was perfect today), I managed to set my pace and make some good lap-times that allowed me to reach the leading group and pass them. In the standings I’m 41 points from Marco [Bezzecchi], but in our category anything can happen. From now on it will be important to stay focused and try until the end!
